ODOT roadwork announcements for the week of June 27

ODOT District 1 announced the following highway construction update for the week of June 27, 2022:

  • Interstate 75 northbound near the Bluelick Road interchange will be restricted to the right/driving lane on Tuesday, June 28, to clean up a diesel spill.
  • U.S. 30 rest areas between Interstate 75 and State Route 65 are expected to close on Monday, June 27, for approximately 10 days for concrete pavement repairs.
  • U.S. 30 between State Route 65 and State Route 696 will close the left/passing lane in both directions for pavement repairs.

Photo-story: Bluffton Cattle Club visits Mennonite Memorial Home

On Saturday June 18, the Bluffton Cattle 4-H Club held their monthly meeting at the Mennonite Memorial Home and let the residents pet a variety of animals. 

There were lots of cats, some cattle, goats, a chicken, a goat and a dog. Some of the 4-H members also did their demonstrations as well. There were approximately 10 residents who enjoyed petting and seeing the animals that the 4-H-ers have raised.

There were also samples of chevon (goat meat) and dried fruit for the club.

In-person Bluffton High School sports meeting July 25

Bluffton Schools students in grades 7-12 who want to play a fall sport should attend the 7:00 p.m. meeting on Monday, July 25 at Bluffton High School. This is the required OHSAA Fall Sport Player/Parent Meeting.

This meeting for all fall sport athletes in grades 7-12 who want to participate in a fall sport and a parent. In addition, the physical exam form and medical eligibility form must be completed by a physician and uploaded to Final Forms at https://bluffton-oh.finalforms.com/.

Summary of June 23 Board of Education meeting

The Bluffton Board of Education met for a regular meeting on the evening of June 23 at the Elementary School media center, 102 S. Jackson St. All members of the board were present: President Larry Hoffman, Brad Dailey, Roni Kaufman, Wes Klinger and Jeremy Scoles.

Action during the meeting included approval of the minutes of the May 16, 2022 regular meeting and May 31, 2022 treasurer's financial and investment reports.

During the public comment segment, new third grade teacher Caleb Garmon was introduced. He previously taught at Liberty-Benton Schools.
