Summary of June 23 Board of Education meeting

The Bluffton Board of Education met for a regular meeting on the evening of June 23 at the Elementary School media center, 102 S. Jackson St. All members of the board were present: President Larry Hoffman, Brad Dailey, Roni Kaufman, Wes Klinger and Jeremy Scoles.

Action during the meeting included approval of the minutes of the May 16, 2022 regular meeting and May 31, 2022 treasurer's financial and investment reports.

During the public comment segment, new third grade teacher Caleb Garmon was introduced. He previously taught at Liberty-Benton Schools.

In 1984, Glenn Frey recorded The Heat is On for the soundtrack to Beverly Hills Cop.  The single hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1985.  The song was written by Harold Faltermeyer and Keith Forsey for Glenn Frey.  This single was the highest charting solo by any member of the band known as The Eagles.

60th wedding anniversary of David and Anita Augsburger

David and Anita Augsburger will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2 with a reception at the Orange Twp Building, 4699 CR 28, Bluffton). No gifts please.

David and Anita (Huber) were married on July 1, 1962 at Pandora Missionary Church. They are the parents of Randy (Tanya) and Annette, all of Bluffton and grandparents of Duncan, Hunter and Ivy.

Skylar Scoles in the Lions den

2022 Bluffton High School graduate and Lions Club scholarship recipient Skylar Scoles was introduced to club members at their June meeting. She answered questions about her background and plans for the future, including attending OSU Lima.

The Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commision (LACRPC) is still accepting submissions for the 2022 Active Transportation Plan Update Survey.

This is an opportunity to comment on the role walking, biking and even rollerblading in your life and how the region can make those activities easier and safer.
