Medical laboratory science major will be offered at Bluffton

Medical laboratory scientists are currently in high demand, and the addition of this major further expands the options available to Bluffton students interested in health care careers

Bluffton University is now offering a medical laboratory science major for students to prepare for a career as a scientist who conducts and reads medical tests in hematology, microbiology, immunology and more.

Medical laboratory science majors will take three years of prerequisite courses in biological sciences, chemistry and mathematics at Bluffton.

Getting the dirt on science

The learning process isn't always an indoor experience. Sometime it happens outdoors. In this class project Blufton student Evan Blue gets dirty gathering dirt for his science project in Mrs. Raeburn's class. The Icon will post photos of students learning in an at-home setting. Webb Insurance recognized as a Stormwater Superstar

Webb Insurance, with offices in Bluffton and Lima, was recognized as  Stormwater Superstars for their stormwater management practices by the City of Lima and the Allen Soil and Water Conservation District.

Every year, the two organizations honor businesses that put best management practices in place to protect area rivers. 

Webb Insurance Agency and Bacon and Associates are this year's honorees.

Allen County has 88 confirmed cases

The following statistics are from the Allen County Department of Health concerning the COVID-19 virus.

As of April 21 there were 88 confirmed cases in Allen County (72 confirmed, 16 probable). Of those, 37 persons were hospitalized and 12 deaths caused by the virus were confirmed.

The chart shows total cases and new cases resported on a daily basis since March 29.

Rep. Cupp introduces Ohio Crime Victim Bill of Rights

David Voth: “Our concepts providing victims’ right will be defined in House Bill 610.”

State Representative Bob Cupp (R-Lima) recently announced the introduction of the HB 610, the Ohio Crime Victim Bill of Rights. The Ohio Crime Victim Bill of Rights statutorily implements the enhanced rights of crime victims contained in the “Marsy’s Law” Crime Victims Amendment to the Ohio Constitution, which Ohio voters overwhelmingly approved in November, 2017.
