Friends of the Library sponsor tea with Jane Austen
The Friends of the Library invite persons to spend an evening with Jane Austen and enjoy a tea that will include a light meal. Austen, author of "Pride and Prejudice," "Sense and Sensibility and other novels, is coming to the Richland Room in the Bluffton Library at 5:45 p.m., April 29. Christie Weininger Raber, director of the Wood County Historical Center and Museum, will portray Jane.
Following the meal of traditional hgh English tea offerings, Ms. Raber will speak first as Jane referencing "Sense and Sensibility," because it best represents the social background of Austen's era.
Then as herself, she will describe the life of the author and the time period during which she lived. Her presentation will include pictures of Jane and maps of England. After the program there will be time for questions from the audience.
Tickets for "Tea with Jane Austen" are $10 for members of the Friends of the Library and $12 for non-members. They may be purchased at the circulation desk at the Library beginning March 20.
Anyone wishing to become a Friend when purchasing tea tickets needs only to make a $5 donation. If paying by check, it should be made out to Friends of the Bluffton Public Library.
Seating is limited and persons are urged to purchase tickets early.
Information about the tea will be on the Friends Page of the Bluffton Public Library website at www.blufftonpubliclibrary.org. Persons may also e-mail the Friends at [email protected] with questions.
