Martha Greding 1921-2010
Martha Greding died at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Toledo, on June 30, 2010, surrounded by her family.
Martha was born Sept. 5, 1921 in Rawson, Ohio, to Harry and Elsie Thompson. After graduating from Rawson High School, she attended Bluffton College before marrying Paul Greding. They enjoyed 54 years together in Bluffton raising children Paula and Harry and joining in many community activities.
Martha was an active lifetime member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bluffton, singing in the choir and serving in many capacities. She worked at Triplett Corp. and Dr. Howard Shelly's office, later volunteering at Bluffton Hospital. She was an accomplished seamstress and bowler. She and Paul square danced and Martha sang in community musical productions. She was crowned Queen of the Bluffton Rodeo Parade in the 1950s.
In 1999, she moved to Sterling House in Findlay.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; brothers, Kimmell and Paul; and son-in-law, Larry Monroe. She is survived by daughter, Paula Monroe (Maumee), son Harry (Barbara) Greding (Acushnet, Mass.) and brother, Bob (Peggy) Thompson (Findlay).
Also surviving are grandchildren Jim (Kim), Matt (Angi) Tim, Mark (Joy) Monroe; Karen (Kevin) Flynn, Christopher (Kate) Greding and great grandchildren Sarah, Carter, Shawna, and Dylan in addition to many nephews and nieces.
A private, family graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Bluffton is planned for a later date. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider St. John's United Church of Christ, Bluffton.
Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton is handling the arrangements.
