Michael Hoblet overall winner, Jessica Arthur first woman to finish BFR 5K
Michael Hoblet won the fifth annual BFR benefit 5K Race on Sept. 4. The 60 race participants traveled through Bluffton including the university and part of the Mennonite Memorial Home property..

Hoblet won with a time of 17:10.0, and beat out the 2009 winner, Ken Basinger. The top female finisher was Jessica Arthur with a time of 21:19.1.
Twelve participated in the Pump n Run Challenge that included multiple lifts prior to the start of the race. Kurt Kuhlman and Randy Barnhart took 15 minutes off their race time with the challenge. Diedre Latham and Timothy Smathers successfully completed 29 repetitions to drop their 5K time by 14.4 minutes.
"BFR was proud of the 16 participants who completed their first 5K ever. The 16 included seven women who had worked out at BFR this summer in preparation for this event," said Carole Enneking of BFR.
She added that two area families came out in full to support BFR with the 5K. The Young family included Kendy and son, Luke, who have run together before, with thevaddition of father, Brian, and daughter, Cara. The Latham family from Pandora have participated in the BFR race in prior years. Families members include father, John with children, Jessica, Diedre and Tyler.
"Special thanks go to the Bluffton Police Department and Evan Skilliter forleading the race. Numerous volunteers, including the local cub scouts and boy scouts, assisted with offering course direction, time, and water stations, said Enneking.
