Global sustainability topic of Bluffton Forum

Dr. Jim Zaffiro, professor of political science and coordinator of global sustainability education at Central College in Pella, Iowa, will discuss the building of global sustainability movements in communities at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Bluffton University's Yoder Recital Hall. The forum is free and open to the public.

"My basic argument is that colleges and universities need to role-model and teach sustainability across the curriculum; that the campus is the curriculum; and that teaching, learning and service must naturally extend into wider local, national and global communities," Zaffiro said.

He hopes his listeners will gain a sense of the possibilities that a global sustainability movement in a community can produce. "By taking small steps as individuals and as members of organizations and groups, college communities are fostering social, economic and ecological transformation, building sustainability and nurturing communities," he said.
