Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn holds customer appreciation weekend

Story time at 10 a.m. Saturday

Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Co., 117 S. Main St., Bluffton, holds its customer appreciation weekend Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5, according to Pete Suter.

The events and giveaways include:
• Free $5 gift cardn with purchase of $10 or more (limit one per customer)
• Free Shirley's water bottles & grocery totes
 • Free premium refrigerator clips and buttons (while supplies last)
• Plus, in celebration of Shirley's legacy of reading and literacy, a free story time for youth takes place at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Shannon Theatre.

Early holiday shopping opportunity at the library

Bluffton Public Library's annual holiday gift basket silent auction is underway. According to Jessica Hermiller, library administrator, 65 baskets are available for patrons to make bids. CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO OF SOME OF THE BASKETS. The fundraiser will accept bids until Wednesday, Nov. 23.

 

 

Your chance for a bird's-eye-view of the two big blue planets

Maybe just a telescope view - but a good view - Friday night

The ONU Astronomy Club will host a free event for the public at the ONU Observatory on Friday, Nov 4, from 8-10 p.m., according to Dr. Jason Pinkney, professor of Physics and Astronomy.

The theme is "The Blue Planets: Uranus and Neptune." The outermost two Jovian planets both have bluish hues attributed to methane in their atmospheres.  Each planet has an interesting history and unique characteristics.  Uranus is tilted about 98 degrees onto its side so it has the most extreme seasons.

Todd Wynward, farmer, wilderness educator and Mennonite minister will discuss “Rewilding the Way: Break Free to Follow an Untamed God” during the Spiritual Life Week Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public. 

The pastor and author of a new book on creation-centered spirituality advocates for an earth-honoring, society-challenging and despair-erasing Christianity.
