Pizza planetarium party Nov. 4

Oakwoods Nature Preserve, rural Findlay

A Pizza Planetarium Party will be held at Oakwoods Nature Preserve’s Richard S. “Doc” Phillips Discovery Cente, rural Findlay, on Friday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. 

The moon and Mars will soon be close to each other and the Taurid meteor shower will reach its maximum rate of activity on this night. Pizza will be served and a stellar craft will be available for children to make and take home.

Junior bowling program has free practice Oct. 29

Leagues formation is now underway at Southgate Lanes

Southgate Lanes Saturday morning junior bowling program signups are underway, according to Derek Dukes. The bowling alley is at 9700 Dixie Highway, on the south edge of Bluffton.

Free practices from 10 a.m. to noon takes place for youth on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Youth leagues will form and information will be gathered on Saturday.

Dukes said that every bowler in the program will receive awards and prizes based on individual skill levels. A party at the end of the season takes place.  Every bowler has the same opportunity to improve.

Bluffton fifth grade girls' winter basketball program signup underway

A fifth grade girls' basketball program will be held this winter in Bluffton schools, according to Wesley Klinger.

The team will practice twice a week starting Nov. 20 and continuing through February.

"Practices will focus on individual player devleopment, and we will also teach more advanced team basketball concepts, plus sportsmanship and teamwork," he said.

Boys' soccer: Bluffton advances to district finals after stopping Ft. Jennings 3-2

Pirate goals by Smucker, Schwaab and Kingsley

Bluffton Pirates boys' soccer team took on the Ft Jennings Muskateers Tuesday evening the in the early game at Kalida District semi-final. Bluffton won 3-2.
 
Bluffton advances to the Kalida district final against the Temple Christian – Continental winner (Temple Christian) on Saturday.
 
Scoring for Bluffton started with a shot by Tristan Smucker at the 3rd minute, assist by Luke Young; next Isaiah Schwaab scored at the 27th minute; and finally Antony Kingsley put in a bouncing ball at 34 minutes.

Temperatures start feeling more like autumn

It’s starting to feel more like autumn. Temperatures in the past seven days dipped into the 50s, 40s and 30, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

Pandora Methodists hold election day dinner

The Pandora United Methodist Church, State Route 12, Pandora, will serve and election day dinner featuring chicken/beef noodles, mashed potatoes, full salad bar, dessert and beverage  on Tuesday, Nov 8, from 5 to 7 p.m.  The cost of the meal is: adults $8, 3-12 yrs. $4 and under 3 free.
