The Beavers headed to Earlham College on Friday, Jan. 22, to battle the Quakers. The Beavers bested the home team, winning 69-55 and staying undefeated at 6-0 on the season while the Quakers fell to 1-2.

MT. BLANCHARD - A late rally by visiting Bluffton came up short in a 39-35 loss at Riverdale in non-conference girls basketball action Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Pirates trailed 30-22 after three quarters before staging a comeback. The Falcon girls methodically built leads of 9-5 and 21-16 following the first two periods of play.
Pirate Riley Eachus canned two final-stanza trifectas, and senior teammate Laykin Garmatter added one trey to help spearhead the rally.
Senior Nic Essinger led Bluffton with 11 points. Carson Soper netted 10 and Nate Schaadt added 8

SPENCERVILLE - Six days after posting a state-record three-point onslaught, the visiting Bluffton boys were stifled 47-36 by Northwest Conference foe Spencerville in a defensive battle Friday night.
Bluffton led 11-6 after a low-scoring first period. But Spencerville took control with a 17-8 second stanza to go in front 23-19 at intermission.
The Bearcats extended the margin to 34-26 after three quarters. Spencerville won the final stanza 13-10 as they canned nine of 12 free throws.

Bluffton University continues to grow its network of Corporate and Education Partnerships in northwest Ohio.
The university has entered into 3-year Corporate Partner or Education Partner agreements with five companies and four school districts since fall 2020. In total, 11 Corporate Partners and nine Education Partners have signed on since the spring 2020 launch.
“We are excited about the leadership opportunities for our region,” said Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University.

It is a certainty that “The Covid-19 Era” will resonate with us as “The Great Depression” did with our parents and grandparents.
The message “never throw anything away because you never know when you might need it,” is among the what-did-your Depression era grandparents and parents teach their Baby Boomers children?
That Great Depression generation’s continual reminder that things may be great today, but, once upon a time that wasn’t the case, can only mean they experienced something that we know very little about today.
