The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the results of the Spring 2021 Volleyball preseason poll, with Transylvania University slated to repeat as league champions.
The Pioneers racked up 95 points in the poll to claim the first-place slot. Hanover College was voted to finish second with 81 points, while Earlham College was picked to finish third, with 75 votes. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (57) and Bluffton University (51) rounded out the top half of the poll in fourth and fifth respectively.

Bluffton High School sophomores will be among more than 600 sophomores in Apollo Career Center’s 11-member district visiting Apollo during 411Blast, scheduled Jan. 25-28.
Bluffton students will visit from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27/
The day exposes students to possibilities and paths available for their career and, or college success. Students choose two programs of interest and then spend one-half day visiting those labs, meeting the instructors and participating in fun, interactive demos and activities.

Barbara Lockard, retired marketing director for Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, has published a book “Chapel Veils, Cough Drops and Queen for a Day,” with a subtitle “Being a kid in the 1950’s.”
The Findlay resident’s weekly blog, launched in March 2020 “Old and Slow and Turning White,” met with favorable response among her Findlay friends, Mother of Mercy High School alums and other blog readers.
At the start of the “great quarantine” she writes that she decided her choices were to either go stark raving mad, or write about better, happier times. She chose the latter.

BLUFFTON - Homestanding Bluffton led most of the game but lost to Spencerville 50-39 after a big Lady Bearcat fourth period comeback won a Northwest Conference girls basketball matchup Thursday night.
The Lady Pirates led 21-15 at halftime as Sami Scoles poured in 12 points. The hosts maintained a 33-30 edge after three periods.
But Spencerville erupted for 20 fourth-quarter points and held Bluffton to just six to rally and win by 11.
