Bluffton University awards top scholarships
Two incoming students at Bluffton University have been awarded the university's full-tuition Presidential Scholarships, valued at more than $100,000 for four years, while two others have received Dean's Scholarships, worth more than $75,000 over the same period.
Bradley Schlabach of Fredericksburg and Jessica Roth of Rockford, are the Presidential Scholarship recipients. Schlabach, a 2011 graduate of Hiland High School, is the son of Paul and Ruth Schlabach, while Roth, the daughter of David and Julie Roth, is a 2011 Parkway High School graduate.
They were the winners of Bluffton's 13th annual Presidential Scholarship competition, which brought 87 high-achieving high school seniors to campus to write an essay in response to a faculty lecture and previously assigned readings. Invited students had grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and test scores of at least 26 on the ACT or 1170 on the SAT.
The Dean's Scholarships went to incoming students Sam Griffith of Greensburg, Pa., and Connor Mortimer of Waynesfield. Griffith is a Hempfield Area High School graduate and the son of Daniel and Leanne Griffith, while Mortimer, the son of Wesley and Brenda Mortimer, graduated from Waynesfield-Goshen High School.
Both the Presidential and Dean's scholarships are renewable with GPAs of 3.0 or above at Bluffton.
