Downtown Bluffton merchants offer lots of prizes this fall in "shop local" campaign

Come uptown and have a chance to win – gift cards and prizes from Bluffton merchants.

Very soon 2,600 Bluffton postal customers will receive a post card inviting them to “shop, sip, eat, play, local.” In a nutshell its message encourages shopping locally.

The postcard makes area residents aware of a Bluffton merchants and Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce major fall promotion. It centers on a concept titled “3/50 Project.” The nationwide project carries the tagline: “Save your local economy three stores at a time.”

Future fire fighters

Two future members of the Bluffton Volunteer Fire Department work on their fire fighting preparation duties during play time at the Bluffton Community Pre-School in the First United Methodist Church. The students are in the 4-year-old class.

Baptist church plans Nov. 1 trunk or treat

Bluffton Baptist Church, 345 County Line Road, will hold a Trunk or Treat from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 in the church parking lot.

The church hopes to have 25 car trunks full of candy to be given to children who attend. Area residents are encouraged to bring their children for a non-scary, entertaining event. This free event will also include hot dogs, chips, cold and warm beverages.

Nixel alert: Looking for elder Bluffton woman wearing pink coat

Rick Skilliter, Bluffton police chief, sent the following Nixle announcement at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15:

Elderly female waked away from College Avenue and Greding Street area earlier this morning. Possibly wearing a pink coat and carrying a black purse. She is 5-feet tall.

Please check your area and report to 911 if you see the female.

Airport Commission meets Oct. 16

The Village of Bluffton’s Airport Commission will be meeting on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Bluffton Airport, according to Nancy Kindle, village fiscal officer.

Funeral arrangements incomplete for Ronald Anderson

Ronald A. Anderson, 85, of Bluffton died Oct. 14, 2014, at Lima Memorial Hospital.  Private graveside services will be held.  Arrangements are entrusted with Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
