Friends of the Library book sale May 7-10

The Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will be having their semi-annual book sale May 7-10.

The sale will be open:

May 7, 5:30-6:30 p.m. for members only, 6:30- 7:30 p.m., open to the public
May 8, 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
May 9, 9:30 a.m.- 5 p.m.
May 10, 9:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.

All kinds of books can be purchased by donation. Proceeds help fund library
programs. Come have a cup of coffee and a cookie while you browse.  Located on the lower
level of the Bluffton Public Library.

University students honored for academic excellence

Bluffton University recognized many of its top students for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum on April 22.

Introduced as distinguished scholars in their respective academic areas were 33 seniors. Shawn Frost of Edison, Ohio, was named distinguished scholar in two programs—exercise science and strength and conditioning—as was Holly Walter of Carey, Ohio, in English and writing.

Donavin Montgomery was a lifelong Orange Township farmer

Donavin R. Montgomery, 91, died on April 21, 2014 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born May 1, 1922 in Orange Township, Hancock County, Ohio to the late Walter and Pearl (Klinger) Montgomery. Donavin was married to Margaret Burkholder Montgomery and they divorced.

Beef and noodles on the menu tonight at St. John's UCC

St. John's United Church of Christ will hold a beef and noodle dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 25, at the church, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton.

The menu includes homegrown beef, noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, roll, homemade pies and beverages.

Tickets are $8 for adults; $5 for sixth graders through college age; and $4 for elementary students. Admission is free for pre-kindergartners.

Track and Field: Beavers in HCAC meet at Defiance this weekend

Good weather, great facilities and hard work from home paid dividends over the weekend as the men's and women's track and field team competed in the Spring Invitational at Kenyon College on Saturday, April 19. Event winners, numerous best performances and another school record highlighted the day.
