For art's sake

Earlier this spring, several Bluffton High School art students had their artwork accepted into the ArtSpace/Lima High School Invitational, sponsored by Kewpee. Their artwork was on display from the end of March until April 11. Art thrives this school year at BHS - many students win awards

For the school year 2013-2014, several of Bluffton High School’s art students received honors for their artwork.

Katie Scott had her artwork accepted in the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. The exhibition started on Sunday, April 13, and will be on display until May 15 at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus. A total of 12,000 art entries were submitted and only 300 entries were accepted, one of which was Scott’s artwork.

Monday was contract night for 2014-15 school year

Monday was contract night for the Bluffton school board for the 2014-15 school year. In addition, elementary, middle school and high school class fees for next school year were approved.

The board approved several certified contracts, classified contracts, supplemental contracts, among other contracts.

Several assignments, long-term subs and school coordinators were approved.

University May Day includes "faculty showcase"

Bluffton University will mark its annual May Day weekend May 1-4 with traditional alumni reunions, student activities and graduation events, as well as a “faculty showcase” in Musselman Library.

Featured at the latter event, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, will be:

· Dr. Martina Cucchiara, an assistant professor of history, sharing excerpts from a Jewish German woman’s World War II-era diary that Cucchiara found in a German archive while conducting research last summer with the aid of a Bluffton University Research Center grant;

Jammin' with Don

Jerry Szabo, Dave Sycks and the legendary Don Hurless perform prior to the April 15 Bluffton Lions Club citizens of the year banquet. Richard Ramseyer was named 2013 citizen of the year by the club. The event was held in First Mennonite Church.
