Lots of adult fitness opportunities start now at BFR
BFR is the place to start for winter exercise.
Adult Fitness class options include aerobics, water exercise, Zumba
dance fitness, YogaFit, senior fitness options and Total Body
Conditioning, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.
"Try out any BFR class for one time without any fees. Class
fees for non-members are $5 and $3 for BFR members. Purchase an AnyClass Card for additional savings. BFR does not require pre-registration for fitness classes; participants are encouraged to attend a variety of classes," she said.
Total Body Conditioning is a 30 minute class offered Monday through Fridays at 7:30am. TBC includes a variety of strength and conditioning exercises in a music-free, group training format.
Adult Conditioning programs include basic BFR membership as well as the Ultimate Fit program. Ultimate Fit includes 12 sessions that increase strength, and aerobic conditioning of the participants. Ultimate Fit is modeled after the popular Crossfit and P90x workout plans.
Ultimate meets Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7-8PM, and an early morning group (5:30-6:30AM, Monday and Wednesday and Friday) is available with a minimum registration of 4. The next session of Ultimate begins January 9; registration is required.
High School opportunities
High School athletes planning to participate in spring sports of Track,
Baseball and Softball are welcome to participate in the Jumpstart programs at BFR.
Jumpstart Track will have sessions in January (beginning Jan. 3) and February (beginning Feb. 6) that will meet Tuesday and Thursday nights from 8-9PM. Jumpstart Diamond Sports will hold one session prior to the HS season (Jan. 24 to Feb. 16); sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 7-8PM. Cost for each Jumpstart program, including 8 sessions per month, is $85 ($50 BFR members). Pre-registration is required.
Membership benefits
Membership at BFR offers many benefits. Individuals over 14 years of age have full access to the fitness center, as well as the indoor track and
open times in the gymnasium and arena. In addition, BFR members receive discounts on program fees. Family membership includes discounts on youth programs, free family events and open play times.
Individual membership is available in 1, 3, 6, or 12 month lengths. Family membership is available for a 1 year term only.
For those individuals and families not interested in full memberships, BFR offers several passes to offer informal recreation and exercise.
Track passes are available for those looking for an indoor walking/running location. Track passes are sold in 3 month or 6 month lengths.
Individual Rec Passes and Family Rec Passes offer access to the indoor
track and open recreation times in the gymnasium and arena. BFR keeps certain times in the arena and gymnasium unscheduled to allow Rec Pass holders access.
