Four Beaver soccer standouts named Academic All-Ohio
The NCAA Division III recently announced the recipients of Academic All-Ohio honors for the 2011 season. Four Bluffton University soccer players were honored for their performance on the field and in the classroom this season.
Seniors Dan Saville (Toledo/Central Catholic), Andrew Keeler (Bluffton) and Seth Hertenstein (St. Mary's/Memorial) were three of just six Heartland Conference men to be honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association. All three Beavers were named to the third team.
Junior Maddie Moore (Linn Grove, Ind./South Adams) was one of only three Heartland Conference women to be honored as third team Academic All-Ohio recipient by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association. Moore and Andrew Keeler were also both recently named Academic All-HCAC for their efforts in the classroom.
To qualify for Academic All-Ohio honors a player must have started in 50 percent of the matches, be a sophomore or above academically and have a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. In addition, the player should have participated in 50 percent of the team's contests at the particular position listed and be a significant contributor to team's success.
