Coming this fall:" A Good Place To Miss: Bluffton In The 1950s"
If you enjoyed reading "A Good Place To Miss: Bluffton Stories 1900-1975" and wish there were more stories, have patience.
The Icon plans to release a second book in this series of Bluffton stories. The book is in the planning stages and will be released this fall. The second book's theme is Bluffton in the 1950s.
"We are collecting stories from people about events and people in Bluffton covering the years 1950 to 1959," said Fred Steiner, who will edit the book. "Several people who bought our recently-released book gave us some great stories ideas. Lots of them centered on the decade of the 1950s. It just seemed natural to focus on those years."
Steiner added that if this series really catches on The Icon may release one book each year. Each new book may focus on a different decade in Bluffton.
"We encourage viewers to contact us with story ideas for our '50s book," Steiner said. The second book will follow a similar format to the first. It will have approximately 180 pages and will be priced similar to the first book.
"When we put the first book together we weren't certain how many copies to print, what price would work and if it would sell at all," said Steiner. "It turned out that we printed 350 copies and sold out within 60 days, between Christmas and new year's. We ordered a second printing and decided to start thinking about volume two."
Like the first volume, the second will be published by Bluffton book publisher, Workplay Publishing, owned by Andre Swartley.
Copies of the first book are still available. Click for details.
