Rita Gorman 1913-2011
Rita Elizabeth Finn Gorman, 98, of Lima, died at 4:50 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at St. Francis Home in Tiffin, where she had lived for the last several years.
She was born July 11, 1913, in Lima to Patrick and Molly Finn. On Oct. 12, 1933, she married Thomas J. Gorman and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1978.
Mrs. Gorman was a member of the St. Rose Parish, Lima, and was a member of the altar Rosary Society.
She retired from St. Rita's Medical Center in 1978 where she had worked in housekeeping for 17 years.
Surviving are two sons, Rev. Thomas Gorman (former chaplain at St. Mary Catholic Church, Bluffton) and James (Janice) Gorman. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann (Mercy Sister Breta) Gorman and Julia (Ronald) Zeigler.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings and an infant grandson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial is at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Lima.
The service will be officiated by Rev. Thomas Gorman. Visitation is Friday, Jan. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial is in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima. A parish wake will take place at 6:30 p.m., Friday. Memorials may go to St. Francis Home, Tiffin or St. Rose Catholic Church.
