BHS's Lydia Guagenti headed to the Big Ten - will run track and field at Ohio State

She's a Buckeye. Lydia Guagenti, Bluffton High School senior, signed a national letter of intent today to attend Ohio State University. There she will be a member of the women's track and field team.

She is only the fourth Bluffton High School girl to play athletics in a Big Ten program. Ann Stechschute attended Purdue, Caity Matter attended Ohio State and Carrie Fett attended Purdue.

In addition to completing in team sports, Megan Dunlap, BHS grad, was a cheerleader at Ohio State.

Guagenti holds the Bluffton High School girl's high jump record at 5 foot 8 inches. Her personal best in the 400 meter event is 58.86 seconds. She has had at least one under 58 second run split as a member of the 4 by 400 meter relay. She is an 11-time qualifier for Bluffton girls at state track and field events.

These include:

High jump - 6th in 2009, 3rd in 2010; 5th in 2011
400 meter - 7th in 2010
4 by 400 meter relay - 5th in 2011
4 by 200 meter relay - 3rd in 2009

Guagenti will focus on the high jump at Ohio State.
