Bluffton resident Meri Skilliter, McComb school superintendent, will be the new superintendent of Ada Exempted Village Schools replacing Dr. Suzanne Darmer.
On Dec. 21 Skilliter was offered a three-year contract at Ada starting Jan. 1, 2017, at $98,000 per year.
Darmer was Ada’s superintendent for the past 10 years and is retiring at the end of the year.
Skilliter, McComb’s superintendent since August 2013, is a previous teacher in the Bluffton school system.
Skilliter announced her departure from McComb School District through her blog on the school website.

Watershed partnership annual meeting earlier this fall

Robert Antibus of Bluffton was re-elected to the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership board of directors for 2017 at the partnership’s annual meeting held at the Hancock Agricultural Center, according to Phil Martin coordinator of the partnership.
Antibus represents the Riley Creek watershed on the board.

During November Bluffton police handed 234 calls for seervice, had 48 traffic stops and issued 12 citations, according to the Ryan Burkholder, police chief.
Theft loss for November was $45,648 with theft recovery of $8. Two motor vehicle thefts totaled $42,940 in value. A note in the report stated that there is the potential that the vehicles may be recovered.

Santa Claus will visit the Weisenbarger house later this week. We know that because he's apparently already landed on the roof of this South Main Street residence.

First Mennonite Church invites the community to attend the Christmas Eve candelight service at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. We will celebrate the light of God’s heart shining in the story and songs of Christmas.
All are also invited to the Christmas Day worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25. Pastor Wanda Stopher will be preaching and special music will be provided by Dr. Lucia Unrau, organist; Youth Choir, directed by Laura Hartzler; and Chancel Choir, directed by Dr. Mark Suderman.
