It's Bluffton versus Arlington Saturday night

What a way to launch the 2016-17 girls' bball season

It's Bluffton HS versus Arlington in Saturday's McDonald's Girls' Holiday Tournament finals.

On Friday Arlington defeated Allen East 71-17 in the opener while Bluffton handled Cory-Rawson 80-23.

Allen East will face Cory-Rawson in the consolation game at  6 p.m. Arlington will face Bluffton in the championship game at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Charles Montgomery was a life-long farmer

WW II veteran and graduate of Bluffton High School

Charles "Chuck" W. Montgomery, 94, died Nov. 23, 2016, at Bluffton Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1922, in Bluffton to the late Charles and Lenore (Stouffer) Montgomery. On Jan. 26, 1943, he married Marjorie Reams Montgomery who survives.

After graduating from Bluffton High School, Charles became a life-long farmer. He enjoyed hunting arrowheads, bird watching, gardening, nature, reading and studying the universe.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in World War II.

"It's a Wonderful Life" - free shows today

1:30 and 4 p.m. at Shannon Theatre

The Blaze of Lights starts early. Here's two event taking placing on Friday in Bluffton:

• Two free showings of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” at the Shannon Theatre. Showings are at 1:30 and 4 p.m. Sponsors are Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn and Shannon Theatre.

 • Holly Follies Variety Show, new this year, two performances: 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25, and Saturday, Nov. 26, in the Bluffton Middle School cafetorium. Tickets are sold at the door for $5 adults and $3 children, free for youth 3 and under.
