Three sessions of swimming lessons offered this summer
Swimming lessons are coming soon to a swimming pool near you and that pool is the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool. Here's this summer's swim lesson schedule:
Session I
June 25-July 6
11:15-11:45 a.m.
5:15-5:45 p.m.
Session II
July 16- July 27
11:15-11:45 a.m.
5:15-5:45 p.m.
Session III
August 6-Aug. 17
11:15-11:45 a.m.
5:15-5:45 p.m.
The group lesson prices are:
Member $30
Non-member $40
Private lessons are available upon request: $50
The swimming pool personnel suggest the following guidelines for lessons:
Parent Tot: Ages 0-3. Adult who is able to swim must accompany the child in the water at all times. Children must wear swimming diapers throughout class.
Level 1: Age of 3 recommended. New to the water, but willing to learn. Should be able to listen and follow directions from the instructor and be independent from their parent.
Level 2: Some experience with the water and willing to submerge entire head in the water.
Level 3: Be able to comfortably place face and head in water. Can perform front and back float for 3 seconds.
Level 4: Be able to float unsupported for at least 5 seconds on front and back and swim 5 meters of freestyle and backstroke without assistance.
Level 5: Can swim 15 meters of freestyle using rotary breathing, swim 15 meters of backstroke, and tread water for 30 seconds.
Adult: Ranges from no experience to athletic practice. Private lessons are available upon request.
