Release Time Weekday Christian Education begins week of Sept. 13

Release Time Weekday Christian Education will begin in Bluffton the week of Sept. 13.

Every student needs a parent-signed release form to attend Release Time in Bluffton schools, according to Kay Miller of the program.

"If your child attended last year we already have the needed release form," she said. "For new students RT forms can be found in the elementary and middle school offices or at the school open house."

Citizens National Bank customer appreciation day Sept. 17

Area residents and businesses are invited to the Community Appreciation Day celebration on Friday, Sept. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Bluffton office located at 102 S. Main St. Free pulled pork sandwiches, brats and more will be served. Attendees may enter to win the grand prize, which will be on display, or one of six $25 gas gift certificates.

The celebration is a way for Citizens National Bank to thank the Bluffton community for their contribution to our success.

It simply flutters by

A common Buckeye butterfly shows off its upside-down perching ability on a butterfly bush in Bluffton. This butterfly with a bold pattern of eyespots and white bars on the upper wing is a familiar site in Bluffton this month. It is thought that the eyespots serve to startle or distract predators, especially young birds.

Hospital update: More steel installation

Work on the Bluffton Hospital construction project this week includes continuing the steel installation and framing of the two-story addition, which includes the new emergency department.

In addition, this week will see continuing masonry block installation for the interior elevator and stairwell, continuing the framing of new walls and hanging HVAC duct work for the new operating room.

BHS girls' 4th of 21 teams at Grove Invitational

CC Runners Set Personal Records at Grove Invitational Last Saturday, September fourth, the Pirate cross country runners piled into a school bus and made the short drive to the Columbus Grove Invitational.

The Grove course was a speedy one - a triple loop down open stretches of cheering fans and flat forest trails that spits you out onto the track for the last 300 meters.
