Tiptoe through the strawberries

We published a photo from this same spot about six weeks ago, and my, how times have changed in the strawberry field. In fact, this photo was taken late last week prior to all the rains. So, it's actually out of date. Can't you just taste them? Corner of Pandora and Bixel roads.

This sports gem shows the Bluffton midget Pirates in the late 1960s; at least as best as we can guess. When these players competed in high school they were among several teams of Northwest Conference champs. In fact, if you look closely there are a couple all-state football players on this team.

We won't take the time to identify the players. We believe there are several Icon viewers, including Tom Cark (standing number 12) who will do it for us. We await your identifications

Tooth art

It's a carving on a whale's tooth. This month at the Bluffton Public Library is an exhibit of scrimshaw art of Nevin Franklin Cline Jr., and some pieces from his collection. This example is a carving from the 1800s. The pieces are on exhibit in the library display case.
