Weis to present Triple Crown hike experience July 16 at BPL

Author/adventurer Brandon Weis will recount his grueling 2021 “Triple Crown” hike along the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail and the Arizona Trail at the Bluffton Public Library Tuesday, July 16 at 6 p.m.

Summer is here, and now is the time to enjoy the weather and get into the water. But many do not know that while you are in the lazy river or perfecting your cannonball, you are coming into contact with bacteria, viruses and parasites. Most of these will not cause you to become sick, but some can cause what is known as Recreational Water Illness (RWI).

July 18 watercolor workshops with local artist

The Bluffton Public Library will host two watercolor workshops entitled “Ladybugs” Thursday, July 18. With the guidance of local artist Jeanne Beutler, participants will create their own finished 8” x 10” watercolor art piece, complete with mat board.

Plant mounting workshop July 23 at BPL

Stir up some summer fun at a Plant Mounting Workshop Tuesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. in the Bluffton Public Library. Kim Beckmann of Stratton Greenhouses and Roots will help guide participants in creating their own plant-mounted decorative wall hanging.

2024 Ride to Remember 10-community tour

The 10th Bluffton Ride to Remember is this Saturday, July 13, starting and ending at Bluffton Community, 601 N Main St. At the time of this article, the forecast is for mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon, according to www.weather.gov.

Whatever the weather, Bluffton Lions organizers are ready with swag bags, rest areas with snacks, emergency rider pickup, dissolving route markers, GPS maps and commemorative t-shirts.

Registration increases to $35 per adult on July 13, 2024. Cinch sacks are limited to the first 250 registered in-person riders. Riders may register online HERE.

The event opens at 6:30 a.m. and the last start is 9:00 a.m. Routes close at 4:00 p.m.
