Joel William (Bill) Boehr grew up in this community
Joel William (Bill) Boehr, 83, died at his home in Chandler, Ariz., at 5:15 a.m., Jan. 6, 2013. He was born in Bluffton to John and Edna Boehr on Sept. 18, 1929. He is survived by a brother, Richard (Corrinne) Boehr, of Bluffton.
Mr. Boehr graduated from Pandora High School and from Bluffton College, where he majored in art. He then went on to graduate from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Birmingham, Mich. He volunteered and served two years in the United State Marine Corp.
In 1960 he was ordained into the United Worldwide Ministries. He help many positions and served several churches through the years. He was a long-time senior minister at Unity of Mesa, from 1974-2012.
He married Robin Tosline on May 7, 2010. They have five children, three grandchildren and five step-children.
He donated his body to a medical college.
A formal celebration service in honor of Mr. Boehr will be held Feb. 2, 2013, at the church in Mesa.
Memorials may be made to any of the following: Bluffton University, in care of the Elizabeth Boehr Memorial; Endowed Scholarship, and or, Bluffton University Art Department Juried Annual Student Show, in care of Gregg Luginbuhl.
