Youth tennis camp and lessons offered this summer

BFR Sports and Fitness will hold a three-day, mini-camp for basic skills on June 3, 4 and 5.  Youth ages 7 to 12 years are invited to learn backhand, forehand, net blocks and serves as part of the camp.

During each 1 1/2 hour session, youth will work on stroke development and learn about court positioning. The camp will be held indoors at BFR. Cost for the camp is $45 ($30 BFR member); deadline to register is Friday, May 31.

New tennis players are welcome to register for weekly lessons over the summer months, as well. The youth beginner group will meet on Mondays from 2-2:45 p.m. Youth must be at least 7 years of age to qualify. This group will feature hand-tossed balls for all drills to allow the player to develop proper form and muscle memory. Lessons begin the week of June 10 and end July 23; no class will be held July 4th week. Cost for the lessons is $55 ($40 BFR member). Space is limited to 8 participants in the class.

High School age players, with little prior instruction, may register for lessons to be held on Tuesdays from 2-3 p.m. The high school group will move quickly through all of the fundamental strokes using drills with hand-tossed balls and then move to ball machine drills. Cost for the HS level class is $70 ($55 BFR member) including six weekly lessons between June 11 and July 24. Space is limited to four in this group.
