Professional development schools to be discussed Sept. 6

Dr. Gayle Trollinger, a professor and chair of education at Bluffton University, will address "Professional Development Schools: Best Practice for School/University Collaboration” at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Bluffton’s Centennial Hall.

The first colloquium of the academic year on campus, the presentation is free and open to the public.

Trollinger will share her experiences—including several unintended outcomes—from a sabbatical last spring semester, when she worked with the award-winning Penn State Professional Development School. The school is a partnership between Penn State University—where she earned her Ph.D.—and the State College (Pa.) School District.

The partners, she says, “enjoy a positive collaborative relationship that provides unique learning opportunities for the Penn State students and faculty and the teachers in the State College schools.”
