BFR's final countdown for used shoe drive Feb. 14
Donations can be dropped off to BFR (215 Snider Road in Bluffton) during all building hours.
Friday, Feb. 14, is the last day for donations to the Used Shoe Drive underway at BFR Sports & Fitness. Used shoes of any type, size and condition are welcome. All donations will be sent to micro-enterprise operations across the world where items are cleaned and repaired for resale or dismantled for recycling.
As of Friday, Jan. 31, the total number of pairs collected was 3,450. The shoe drive is a fundraiser for BFR; 2,500 pairs of shoes translates into a $1,000 donation to the non-profit organization. While the initial goal of the drive was 7,500 pairs, the BFR board of directors and staff hope to collect 5,000 pairs by the Feb. 14 date.
Individuals who make a donation are welcome to register for a raffle drawing at the end of the collection period; one $50 and one $100 BFR gift card will be awarded. The more shoes donated, the higher chance of winning since one chance is offered for each pair donated.
