Dale Risser was a retired carpenter from Excello/Purepak
Dale E. Risser, 83, died March 24, 2014 at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born Oct. 28, 1930 in Vaughnsville to the late Wilbur and Edna (Glancy) Risser. On June 29, 1956, he married Joyce Augsburger and she survives.
Mr. Risser retired as a carpenter from Excello/Purepak, Bluffton in 1991. He had attended Union Chapel Missionary Church, Lima. He was a member of Local UAW #1327. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed showing his fruits and vegetables at the Allen County Fair where he won numerous rosettes for his efforts. Dale was a graduate of Bluffton High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors also include two sons Van (Tammy) Risser of Bluffton, Jay (Tracy) Risser of Lafayette; a daughter Beth (Kevin) Sommers of Harrod; six grandchildren Vanessa (Lee) Irving, Grant Risser, Dustin (Teresa) Risser, Ashli (Brent) Gatchell, Aaron Sommers, Megan Sommers; three step grandchildren Chris Clements, Jessica (Cody) Wright, Nick Robinson; four step great grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Hauenstein of Bluffton and Doris (Jim) Wright of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by a sister Lois Bailey.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Union Chapel Missionary Church, Lima. Pastor Mark Bayliff officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marimor School or Simon Kenton School.
