Edna Emans was retired from Lima Memorial Hospital; also worked at Bluffton Hospital
Edna L. Emans, rural Lafayette, died at 8:56 p.m. July 17, 2014, at the age of 101 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, where she had been for the last four weeks. She was born June 16, 1913, in Gilboa to Henry and Uzela Ramsey Fairchild. On Oct. 5, 1931, she married Glen Emans in Covington, Ky., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1999.
Mrs. Emans lived on the farm all her life. She was a graduate of Crawfis School. She retired from Lima Memorial Hospital after 27 years of service, then worked at Bluffton Hospital for seven years. She then volunteered at the Mennonite Memorial Home for four years. She was a member of the Lafayette United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and during her retirement made 36 quilts.
She is survived by three sons, Robert (Mary Lou) Emans of Pemberville, David (Karen) Emans of Pandora, Floyd (Lynda) Emans of Kenton, 12 grandchildren, Rebecca Allison, Randall Emans, Elizabeth Poggiali, Mark Emans, Bradley Emans, Kurt Emans, Jedd Emans, April Meeks, Lisa Emans, Shawn Emans, Eric Emans, Scott Emans, 22 great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Pickens of Leipsic and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Burdell, George, Harvey, Homer and William Fairchild and five sisters, Ruth Lunn, Alice Klausing, Eva Mary Fairchild, Althea Hector and Chloe Schreiber.
Services were July 21, at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Bluffton. Rev Wayne Bradley and William Herr officiated. Burial was in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa.
