Bluffton harriers compete at Otterbein
Women's Results I Men's Results
WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Beaver harriers had a productive day at the Otterbein Invitational cross country meet. The women's team finished fifth in a field of 10 teams while showing continued improvement in their race craft, in this their first 6K competition of the season.
Sophomore Anna Hairston (Mansfield/Ontario) led the women with a 23rd place finish in a field of over 100 runners. Freshman Alissa Hauke (Hillsboro) followed Hairston across the finish line just five places later in her first 6k ever. Junior Tara Murphy (Westerville/Thomas Worthington) and sophomore Raven Wilson (Coshocton/Riverview) finished a few seconds after Hauke while junior Kristin Schiefer (Bucyrus/Wynford), in a huge PR performance, completed the scoring five for the Beavers.
On the men's side, sophomore Jack Fisher (Norwalk/St. Paul), led the squad with a fast-closing 10th place finish in a field of 111. Junior Zach Bradley (Sheffield/Brookside) was not far off Fisher in 24th place. Freshman Kris Lyons (Vickery/Margaretta), in his first time at the 8K/5 mile distance, ran a credible 42nd place.
The teams are back in action next Saturday, Sept. 27, on the King's Island golf course in Mason, Ohio, site of the NCAA Division 3 Regional and National championships to be contested at the end of the season with schools coming in from around the nation. This meet will provide the Bluffton harriers with a great opportunity to see how they fare against national class athletes.
