Ebenezer involved in National Collection Week

Ebenezer Mennonite Church has been involved with Operation Christmas Child for many years. However, this year the church will serve as a relay center for Bluffton and the surrounding community.

Shoeboxes are filled with clothes, school supplies, small toys, hygiene items for kids in war-torn countries, and refugee camps.

Shoeboxes are collected during National Collection Week, Nov. 16 -22.
The Bluffton Relay Center shoebox collection site will be open Monday to Friday, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1-3 p.m. during the weekof the collection.

Congressman Jordan holds Bluffton town meeting Nov. 11

Bluffton University will host a Town Hall meeting with United States Congressman Jim Jordan, 4th District, Ohio, on Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 7-8:30 p.m. The event will be held in Founders Hall and is free and open to the public. Doors for the event will open at 6:30 p.m.

A Town Hall is an opportunity for residents of the 4th district, especially those in Allen and Hancock Counties, to ask questions of Congressman Jordan. Other Town Hall events have occurred in the district this year, but none in this part of the region.

Dress rehearsals are underway for the fall theatre production of Bright Ideas at Bluffton University. Junior Sarah Diller (Bluffton), as Genevra, and senior Ryan Mooney (Continental), as Joshua, have a conversation on the phone while first-year student, Brittany Elam, the stewardess, politely tries to stop the conversation.

Welcome viewer number 5,500!

The Icon is happy to announce that sometime during the morning of Friday, Oct. 30, we will witness the 5,500th visitor to our site. Our site officially opened on Oct. 1. Since that time we have seen daily views grow from 75 a day at the start. During the week of Oct. 25-20 our average daily view is 250. The lowest daily view was on Oct. 26 with 226 views. The highest view day was Oct. 29 with 297.

When the doorbell rang in Bluffton homes on Oct. 29, well, you never knew who would be at your door. The village celebrated Halloween on the 29th.
