Everett Collier in this weekend's Encore Theatre production of "A Raisin in the Sun"
Everett Collier of Bluffton portrays the role of Walter Younger in the Encore Theatre production of “A Raisin in the Sun.”
The final weekend of performances is Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 20-22 at Encore Theatre, 991 N. Shore Dr., Lima.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. Sunday’s matinee is at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors (62 and older), and $10 for high school students and younger.
Set just before the Civil Rights and Women's movements, this play tells a story of an African American family living in a crowded apartment on Chicago's south side in the 1950s.
When the Younger family receives a large life insurance check, the promise of a better life seems to be just around the corner.
But the family struggles with conflicting ideas about how to use the money, and their plans to buy a home in an all-white neighborhood are thwarted by racial intolerance.
To order tickets by phone call the box office at 419-223-8866, open from 1:30 to 5 p.m. March 20.
