Bluffton Public Library announces full schedule for April

Bluffton Public Library announces its April 2015 programs, opportunities, and services.  Programs are open to the public, but when noted below, require registration.  There are several ways to register for a program: 1) call 419-358-5016; 2) stop by the front desk; 3) email [email protected]; 4) leave a comment on Bluffton Public Library’s Facebook; or 5) visit our website at blufftonpubliclibrary.org and click on the "Register Here" button, and fill out an online form.

Starting April 13, help BPL celebrate National Library Week!  Come to a program or ask about one of the many services provided.  Celebrate your library by utilizing your library!

The Adult Book Discussion is back on the first Wednesday of the month (Apr. 1st) at 12pm.  We will be discussing Gabrielle Zevin's The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry, --limited space and copies are available, so advance registration is requested.  Next month's book is Jojo Moyes’s One Plus One.

BFR Sports & Fitness offers YogaFit(c), a yoga-based exercise class at Bluffton Public Library on Wednesdays at 6:30pm by.  For April, sessions are on the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Please contact BFR for more information and to register.  Sessions are held on the lower level of the library.

Brain Builders is back! This problem-solving, LEGO-building club is for children in K-5th grade.

Join us for some building fun after school from 4:00-5:00pm on Apr. 2nd, 16th, and 30th.  Registration is required.

On Apr. 4th and 18th at 10 a.m. stop by the library to visit with a certified therapy dog for Paws to Read.  Teddy and Tango love hearing stories and just getting a friendly cuddle!  Teddy will also be in Apr. 8th and 22nd at 3:30pm for Teddy Time.  Afraid of dogs? Stressed out? Need some company while you do homework?  Teddy is here to help!

Join BPL for its Springtime sessions of Storytime (ages 3-5), but don’t forget to register!  You may choose to register for Mondays at 6:30pm or Tuesdays at 10am.  Storytime begins Apr. 6th (6:30pm) and 7th (10am) in April.

Chill Zone continues Tuesday afternoons (Apr. 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th from 3:30pm to 4:30pm).  Middle and High School students are welcome to hang out at the library for games, movies and crafts every Tuesday.  The Anime Club meets at 6 pm on Apr. 15th.  

On Apr. 7th at 6pm, the Gardeners of the Bluffton-Pandora Area group continues meeting on the lower level of the library.  Come to a session for more information about this group. 

On Apr. 13th and 27th from 6 to 7:30 pm join us for Jammin' at the Library-- an informal time for acoustic musicians to come together "Song Circle" style and share their love of music. This program takes place on the main floor of the library or on the library’s front porch (near the main entrance) if the weather permits.  Don’t forget your lawn chairs! 

Join us on an afternoon during Apr. 13th-16th for Library Learnin’.  Learning about your library is loving your library!  To celebrate National Library Week, BPL will give its patrons a chance to learn more about their library.  From 3:30 to 4:30pm on April 13th-16th, a librarian will give tours of the library and explain how the library works within its many facets!

You are invited to have tea with Mark Twain (Eric Rotsinger of Van Wert) on Apr. 16th at 5:45pm.  This exciting event is the Friends of the Library’s annual sponsored Tea, featuring a light meal and entertainment.  Tickets are $12 and are available for purchase at the library’s front desk.  Tickets must be presented at the door on Thurs., Apr. 16th.  The proceeds from this event go to your Bluffton Public Library’s programs, materials, and services.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars, as the library will be closed Apr. 17th.  Due dates will be adjusted accordingly.

Stop in on Apr. 20th from 6 to 7:30pm for “Songs for Earth Day” with Wendy Chappell-Dick.  Wendy will perform traditional American songs that honor the natural world using dulcimer and guitar.  All are welcome!

On Apr. 22nd at 12pm Simple Suminagashi returns to BPL.  This marbleizing paper craft was a success last time the library held it, and so it returns!  Registration is required so the library can plan accordingly.

The Gluten & Food Allergy Support Group continues to use the library as its meeting place.  In April, their meeting is on the 27th at 6pm.  Come to any meeting to join this group.
On Apr. 29th, the library’s T.V. (Teen Volunteers) will meet at 4:30pm.  If you are interested in becoming a T.V., please email [email protected].

BPL also encourages patrons to stop by to view April’s community displays.  April’s display case will feature a collection of costume jewelry with a variety of different pieces.  The library will also exhibit book displays that celebrate National Poetry Month and Math Awareness Month.
