Gail Benroth taught elementary school and owned a ski and sail business
Gail Allen Benroth died March 19 after complications from multiple strokes and a battle with pneumonia. He was born October 29, 1942. He married Joan Ball (Williams) in 1970 and they were married for 26 years.
He served four years in the US Air Force as a jet engine mechanic before attending college at Utah State University where he earned a degree in social work and elementary education.
He was as an elementary school teacher in Lima for four years and then relocated to Toledo in 1974 to teach at East Elementary and Dugway Elementary. In later years, Gail worked as a fireman for the Dugway and Ditto Fire Departments.
His passion for skiing and sailing spurred his own small, garage-run business “Benroth’s Ski & Sail."
He is survived by his four children, Brent (Becky) Benroth, Ryan (Melissa) Benroth, Eric (Amy) Benroth, Kristy (Ryan) Lee and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister. Nona (Jim) Baber and sister, Thea (Dan) Caron.
He is preceded in death by his father, Noland Eugene Benroth, mother, Margaret “Peggy” Alene Follas, and brother, Gene Benroth.
A memorial service was held March 26 in Toledo. Donations can be made to help the family to cover funeral expenses; a donation account is available at HeritageWest Credit Union, account **637.
