April 13, 2015
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior MICHAEL ALEXANDER (Monroe) had one of the most prolific days in Bluffton University baseball history on Sunday, April 12, en route to being named the Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week. He is the second Bluffton player to be named the HCAC Hitter of the Week in the past three weeks on the heels of Luke Hickey's selection on March 30.
Alexander led the Beavers to the school’s first ever series win over Manchester and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week. The senior finished 8-for-15 (.533) at the plate with three runs scored, four doubles, one triple, and three RBI.
The Beavers dropped a 7-6 decision to Earlham and took two out of three against Manchester during the week of play. Alexander was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a school-record four doubles and three RBI, including a walk-off sacrifice fly in Bluffton’s series clinching 7-6 win over Manchester. The Monroe, Ohio native finished the week with a .933 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage.
Bluffton (17-10, 10-5 HCAC) will travel to Defiance on Tuesday and will welcome Anderson for a three-game HCAC series this weekend. First place will be up for grabs when the Ravens make the trek to Memorial Field as Anderson, Earlham and Bluffton are all deadlocked at 10-5 in the conference.
