M and M Veggies: Brother and sister farmers' market team
It started out as a way to supplement the cost of college tuition. It did that and is now a successful and popular Bluffton Farmers’ Market vendor.
M and M Veggies, a Saturday morning farmers’ market fixture, is owned by brother and sister-team Mark and Meredith Bixel of rural Bluffton.

This is their ninth year in the Bluffton market for Meredith and the fifth year for Mark.
“Gardening was always part of our life at home,” said Meredith, who graduated from Bowling Green State University in May. Mark will be a senior at Bluffton High School in August.
M and M customers find the following garden veggies when in season: kale, spinach, kohlrabi, lettuce, green beans, beets, tomatoes, carrots and butternut squash.
The Bixels have about one-half acre of garden. They start seeds indoors in late March and move them outdoors as the ground warms up.
Their number one seller? It’s green beans and beets. You’ll find them in the middle of the market on the north side, each Saturday.
