Pre-kindergarten artists at Bluffton Child Development Center

Allison Diller is a student in the Pre-Kindergarten class at Bluffton Child Development Center. She shares a pretzel with readers, which she made recently. Allison is the daughter of Jason and Rachel Diller of Bluffton.

If you taught strings, how your license plate read?

Okay, work this one on phonetically. Here's a hint. The plate is on a vehicle parked along Jackson Street near the elementary school generally Mondays through Fridays. The plate is owned by Rachael Lewis, strings instructor in the Bluffton schools.

Retired community leader Maurice Fett promoted Bluffton entire life

Maurice Fett

Retired Bluffton businessman and community leader Maurice E. Fett, 86, died at 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

His interests covered all aspects of Bluffton. He retired as owner of Fett Hardware, which at one time was located in the present Bluffton Senior Citizens storefront.

He was born March 2, 1923, in Bluffton to Gilbert and Inez (Triplehorn) Fett. On May 1, 1949, he married Eula Locher. She died Sept. 16, 1991. On June 14, 1997, he married Maeola McClain and she survives.

BCE art auction fundraiser includes works of several local artists

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) will host a dinner and art auction Saturday, Nov. 7 at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., according to John Bauer, BCE executive director. The event is a fund raiser for BCE.

The event will begin with appetizers and a cash bar at 6:30 p.m. A dinner will be served at 7:15 p.m. The auction will be held immediately following dinner. All proceeds will go to BCE, Bluffton's non-profit small business incubator. Auctioneers of the event include several well-known Bluffton residents. They will be announced closer to the date of the event.

Fall youth programming underway at library

The Youth Services Department at Bluffton Public Library is offering some exciting programs this fall, according to Rikki Steingass of the library.

ATLAS

The ATLAS program for grades 1-5 continues every first and third Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. Fall themes include Apples vs. Pumpkins, Don't Be a Turkey!, The Narwhal & Other Strange Creatures and Musical Cacophony.
