BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Beavers came out firing on Saturday afternoon as the Goshen Maple Leafs entered the Sommer Center. In sets one and two the Beavers dominated, winning 25-16 and 25-21. Early in set three, Bluffton was down 10-5 to the visitors and it was back-and-forth all the way to the end. There were 12 tie scores and six different lead changes alone, but with a huge team effort the Beavers came out on top, 28-26. Bluffton won its eighth straight match while improving to 11-6. Goshen slipped to 9-10 on the year.
Bluffton’s offense was smoking with the two seniors putting up outstanding numbers. JENNY BROWN (St. Marys/Memorial) and KENDRA PARMENTER (Grove City) finished the match with 15 and 12 kills, respectively. MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) also added to the offense with six kills. The home team hit .304 for the match, including a whopping .542 in the lidlifter when the Beavers hammered home 16 kills against just three errors on only 24 total attacks.
Brown led the defense at the net with two solo blocks and three block assists. Libero SYDNEY MOHLER (Lima/Central Catholic) paced the back-row with 22 digs. ERIN HELMS (Arlington), ABBY ROHRBACH (New Knoxville) and McFarlin each chipped in six digs for the victors. From the service line, both Mohler and Becca Tourney (Columbia City, Ind.) fired away with two aces apiece.
