NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Bluffton University women's soccer team traveled to North Manchester, Ind., and rallied for a 2-1 victory over Manchester University on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015. The win pushed the Beavers to 6-7 overall and 2-2 in the Heartland Conference while the Spartans dropped to 3-8-1 and 1-2-1 HCAC.
The Spartans dominated possession for much of the opening stanza as they scored their first goal just over seven minutes into the match. It
wasn't until the second half when the Beavers really picked up their intensity. With less than seven minutes to play the visitors managed to push the equalizer past the Spartans, knotting the score at 1-1. Just four minutes later, sophomore Brittany Huff (Union/Northmont) planted the game-winner into the back of the net thanks to the assist from freshman Skylar Liming (St. Marys/Memorial), making the score 2-1 with her fifth tally of the season.
Bluffton was outshot by a narrow 20-19 margin, but what helped tremendously was the play of senior Ashley Knippen (Wapakoneta) with her nine saves as she improved to 6-4 on the season. Skylar Liming and Beth Snyder (Akron, NY/Akron Central) led the Beavers with five shots apiece.
The Beavers will head to Franklin on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 6 PM. Support your fellow Beavers and watch the live stats at http://franklingrizzlies.com/sports/wsoc/2015-16/boxscores/20151017_gii9... as the Beavers go for their third straight win against the Franklin Grizzles!
