Visitation Tuesday for Helen Driver, 99
Helen E. Driver, 99, died at 2:35 a.m., Aug. 14, 2016, at Bluffton Hospital.
Helen was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Allen County to Russell and Edith (Brenneman) Wolfe, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 13, 1940, she married Marion J. Driver who died on Sept. 22, 1997.
Mrs. Driver was a graduate of Elida High School and attended Northwestern Business College in Lima. She worked in Chicago and at the City Loan in Lima. Helen was a homemaker and co-owned a shoe store in Lima for several years. She spent her last 17 years at Maple Crest in Bluffton. There she participated in many activities. Helen also volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop.
She was a longtime member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren and its women’s fellowship and RFTM class. She had also been a deaconess and served in several other positions. She was a member of the Les Amies Club.
Survivors include: three daughter, Marilyn (Bud) Helser of Lafayette, Ohio, Judith (Peter) Hruschka of Ada, Kathleen (Joe) Long of North Liberty, Indiana.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Kurtis (Marti) Helser, Jeffrey(Katie) Helser, Gregory (Vicki) Helser, Daniel (Dee) Hruschka, Thomas (Carolyn) Hruschka, Benjamin (Gina) Long, Sara (Joel) Griffiths, Christopher (Laura) Long, and Rachel Long; fifteen great-grandchildren: Ann and Kate Helser; Jacob, Lizzie, and Elaina Helser; Cole, Grace, and Joy Helser; Ella, Emily, and Liza Hruschka; Zoë and Zef Hruschka; Hugo and Claire Long, and another due in November.
Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Lois (Kermit) Katterheinrich.
Services will be held Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren with Rev. Les Bartley and Rev. Philip Brenneman officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Grove Cemetery following the service.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug, 16, 2 - 5 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton, and one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Church of the Brethren.
