Friday accident: Life Flight takes one injured person to St. Vincent's
Friday's interstate accident details are now available according to information from the Findlay post of the State Highway Patrol.
Bluffton police, fire and EMS assisted the patrol at the crash scene.
According to the Patrol: A Utah man suffered life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on northbound Interstate 75, near the Ohio 235 exit.
Alan J. Cline, 49, of Kaysville, Utah, the driver of one car, was taken by Life Flight medical helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, the patrol reported.
Another driver involved in the crash, Dr. Desrene K. Brown, 49, of Bluffton, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Marion K. Dryden, 41, of Redford Township, Michigan, was not injured.
At around 1:20 p.m., Dryden was driving a 2015 Volvo truck on northbound I-75 when he failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead and struck the rear of Cline’s 2016 Nissan Versa, according to the patrol.
The Nissan then hit Brown’s 2015 Mercedes C300, according to the patrol.
After the impact, both cars went off the left side of the roadway, and Cline was ejected from his car.
The report continued: The truck traveled off the right side of the roadway. The crash remains under investigation.
