Volleyball downs Franklin in four sets

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University volleyball team hit the road for a matchup with the Franklin College Grizzlies on Saturday, Oct. 15. The Beavers battled with the Grizzlies through four tough sets for the win (22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 26-24). Bluffton kept its perfect 5-0 Heartland Conference record intact, improving to 17-7 overall, while Franklin dropped to 2-4 in the conference and 12-10 on the season.
HCAC Player of the Week MACKENZIE MCFARLIN (Ashland) did it again, leading the Beavers with a match-high 21 kills. Senior LAUREN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) and sophomore BETHANY MARTINI (Pickerington/North) added 12 and eight spikes, respectively.
Sophomore setter ERIN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) doled out 42 assists on the afternoon to go along with her 10 pickups. SYDNEY MOHLER (Lima/Central Catholic) scooped up a career high with a whopping 45 digs for the Beavers. BECCA TOURNEY (Columbia City, Ind.) fired three aces while ABBY ROHRBACH (New Knoxville), who finished with 11 digs, Mohler and Erin Weisgarber chipped in two aces each.
The Beavers will be back in the Sommer Center on Wednesday, Oct. 19 against Manchester University. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. Come out and support your Beavers as they kick off a sequence of five home matches over a span of 11 days!
