Registration on for Oct. 7 5K run/walk at The Quarry Farm
The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm, Pandora, is holding the annual Quarry Farm 5K Run/Walk event on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. Check-in is from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The race will be held rain or shine.
Registration is available online at https://www.active.com/pandora-oh/running/distance-running-virtual-event... and at www.thequarryfarm.org.
The scenic out-and-back rural course takes participants past a historic bridge, two scenic creeks to a rest halfway and back to the finish line at c. 1853 Red Fox Cabin. Participants will receive a custom race t-shirt. The first male and female to cross the finish line will each receive a commemorative mug designed by Artist Brandon Knott. Refreshments will be provided.
The Quarry Farm 5K proceeds support the work of the center by:
· Making it possible for the sanctuary animals, many of whom began their lives in fear and neglect, to reside here in peace with proper shelter.
· Providing species-specific food and bedding for sanctuary farm animals and fostered wildlife.
· Maintaining the nature preserve trails and control invasive plant species on the preserve and in the Red Fox Cabin gardens.
· Helping to provide quality educational programming in science, the arts, Ohio history and critical thinking.
· Contributing to the development and installation of interpretive signage.
For those who can't make the Oct. 7 event, there is also a Virtual 5K happening now through December 31. The Virtual 5k event can be completed at any location. Participants will receive their t-shirt by mail at the address they provide during registration.
The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm is located 1/8 mile north of 14321 Road 7L, Pandora. For more information, visit www.thequarryfarm.org, The Quarry Farm on Facebook and Instagram or call 419-384-7195.
