Almost 20 Bluffton area residents – runners and walkers – will participate in the 9th annual 5K Mock Turtle run/walk, Saturday, Sept. 1, in Fryburg (near Wapakoneta), according to Rachel Mathewson.
The event is part of that community’s annual homecoming.
The area participants are part of an Ebenezer Mennonite Church 5K Challenger group.
Area participants include:
Robert and Sue Spallinger
Andrew Spallinger

Steve and Doneta Reigle
Amanda Reigle
Toni McKean
Adrienne Gossard
Brittany Good

Eric and Rachel Mathewson
“The purpose of our group is to train people to be able to walk or run a 5k with an emphasis of using scripture and a couch to 5k program,” said Mathewson.
“The Bible study that we used is a 12-week plan developed by Run for God 5k Challenge, authored by Mitchell Hollis, she said.
“We meet on Wednesday evenings at the Bluffton University track at 6 p.m. for a short Bible study and then get into our training portion. We will be taking a break through the winter with the hopes of doing this again next spring.”
