Wendell Miller watched the demolition of Lincoln Hall from Rosenberger Drive.

“There goes my room,” he said, watching the large demo machines grab pieces of the building like hungry monsters.

All Excavating and Demolition of Findlay, is razing the former men’s dormitory on the Bluffton University campus. According to Beth Cogley of the company, the project should be completed by Saturday.

Earlier another company completed an asbestos removal.

So, when students return from Christmas break the campus scenery will have changed. The next step is work to begin on the Knowlton Science Center, situated on the Lincoln Hall site.

Here’s what “The Story of Bluffton College,” published in 1925, stated about Lincoln Hall:

“Lincoln Hall, the fine dormitory for young men with room for one hundred men, and which was completed in 1923 at a cost of something over $60,000, was built from funds solicited by faculty and students, nearly all of whom donated liberally of their money as well as of their time and labor…. The class of 1923 furnished the fine furniture in the lobby of Lincoln Hall.
