Bluffton boys 3rd at track regionals; 4 entries head to state

TIFFIN - Three Bluffton track and field athletes qualified for state in the Div. III regional meet at Tiffin's Hoernemann Stadium Friday evening.

• Baylor Garmatter (400 meters)
• Xavier Dunifon (300 hurdles) each won regional titles.
• Jackson Steinmetz finished second in the 3200 meter run
• Dunifon made it in the 110 hurdles by coming in fourth.
• 4x400 relay finished third at 3:27.75

The Pirates tied for third in the boys regional team standings with Pandora-Gilboa.
Two Pirates will compete in the Div. III state preliminary trials Friday, May 31. Running events at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium start Friday at 9:30 a.m.
Dunifon's 110 hurdle prelims are at 10:10 a.m., with the 300 hurdles at 11:30 a.m. Garmatter runs in the 400 prelims Friday at 11:10 a.m.
Top eight finishers in each event advance to the finals Saturday, where track event finals resume at 9:30 a.m.
Steinmetz runs in the boys 3200-meter finals Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Archbold edged Columbus Grove to win the girls team title, while Ottawa Hills captured the boys crown.
