BHS flag corps returns to the '80s
Several rehearsal photos at the bottom of this story -
It’s a retro year – meaning music from the ‘80s – for the Bluffton High School flag corps, which began practicing this week for the upcoming performance season.
The young group includes five juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen. This year’s corps director is Jackie Bourassa. Captains are Elizabeth Bourassa and Bella Angel.
Members in addition to the captains are:
• Juniors: Kylie Mathewson, Melina Meza and Justice West
• Sophomores: Ella Cunningham, Kenzy Dauterman and Nebraska Montgomery
• Freshmen: Kenzie Badertscher and Hannah Ballinger
When the Icon dropped by for an impromptu photo session, the group was rehearsing Momma Mia, Here We Go Again, for its Allen County Fair competition. That competition takes place Saturday, Aug. 24. The corps will perform with the BHS marching band at the fair on Friday, Aug. 16.
The corps first show with the BHS marching band features songs from Queen. That show is during the BHS vs. Cory-Rawson football game at Harmon Field on Friday, Aug. 30.
